Lowes Removed My Missed Payment

I thought I had setup autopay on my Lowes Card.  I charged a couple little items.  I did not check my statement and it went to 60 days late.  I first saw it when I opened my Credit Karma account.  Ouch, I might have said something else, grin.

1.  I paid the missed payment

I immediately went to Lowes and paid my account.  The next day I called the Lowes Credit Card phone number from the back of the card.  I very nicely talked to the customer service agent. I took responsibility for missing the payment.

2.  I used the Lowes Card some more

I spent a little more money at Lowes on my Lowes card over the next few months and obviously paid on time.

3.  I waited to ask for the Missed Payment Removal

After about 6 months I called up Lowe's Credit Card customer service.  I explain to the customer service person that I was looking at new cars and would there be any way they could possibly remove my missed payments. I was extremely nice. This is a necessity when dealing with customer service.

She said she'd ask her supervisor and came back a minute later and said yes it has been removed. In about a week I checked again and it had been removed.

Lowes Removed My Missed Payment

I have several friends that have used the same method with Vicotorias Secret, Tire shop, Chase Credit Cards and others.

You Missed a Payment,Do not Cancel the Credit Card

The first instinct when I got my first missed payment was to pay off the card and then cancel the card.  If you do this the negative will hang out on your credit report for seven years.

If you apologize to customer service, take responsibility for missing the payment and catch up on payments you are on your way to getting the negative removed.

If they have not cancelled your account, I would use the account a little and make more payments on time.  Show them you are a valued customer, don't tell them.

After about six months from your missed payment ask if they will remove the missed payment from your account.

If this does not work, do not stop.  Use the account a little bit more and in another couple of months ask again.  Persist until you succeed.

Dealing with Customer Service Successfully

Always Be Nice to Customer Service Customer Service Agents are able to help you if you're nice to them and hurt you if you're not. I was never taught how to deal with Customer Service.  However my Mother always taught me to be a Gentleman. Customer Service on the Phone I am always extremely nice and courteous to customer service. They have a very tough job because so many people yell at them and treat them horribly.  So many customers, especially of banks or credit cards, make a mistake but won't accept responsibility for their mistake. The customers want to blame the bank for the missed payment.  My dog ate my statement so I didn’t pay my bill. My rule of thumb is always be extremely nice to customer service. They're just doing their job and it is a tough one. They can certainly help if you are nice to them. Customer Service Tracks You Many Customer Service agents are able to make notes on your account. If you are particularly mean during an interaction they will

Credit Card Fees and How to Avoid Them

There are Many Assorted Credit Card Fees.  I work hard to avoid the fees.  I work hard for my money I don't like to waste it. Annual fee - this is a fee charged by some credit cards once a year just for having the card. Most Airline cards and many Premium cards will have an $80 to $500 annual fee. I have a United Airlines card and a premium Chase card that I pay an annual fee on. I have tried to get out of paying the fees on these by calling and asking with no success.  The only way I found would be to cancel the card. Interest rate - this is the percentage charged on the balance of the credit card that is not paid off in full each month. This is not an issue with me as I pay off my cards in full every month.   If I do need short-term money I use money from my HELOC.   Ask for a Zero Percent Offer If you are needing money and have a good credit history you may call your credit card and ask them if they have any Zero Percent offers for this card.  They will charge you 3% upfro
